3 Tips for the Upstart
Yesterday I had the honor of serving as a judge at the Loyola Marymount University Business Incubator Showcase. It was great to hear these young hungry soon-to-be-entrepreneurs pour their heart and souls into their ideas. It is always encouraging to see the spirit of entrepreneurship alive and well and more importantly the ideas were coming from students with all types of backgrounds.
Here's three simple ideas for start-ups to consider prior to presenting:
Sales - this will always be the number one skill for entrepreneurs. The ability to sell your ideas, your vision, your passion and most importantly yourself is critical. Before you sell your products you need to sell the dream.
Specific Knowledge - you don't need to be an expert in the field you are entering but you should seek to be the most knowledgeable person in the room regarding your subject matter. There are countless free and paid resources online that will teach you almost everything you need to know about your business; be the most studied.
Team - the team that you put together speaks volumes about your ability to lead and inspire. It also back your claims that you can pull off your business ideas.
