Ask With Precision
There's a verse in the bible that gets half quoted all the time. It's Matthew 7:7 where Jesus says "Ask and you shall receive". The whole passage is actually - "ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you". Which is much more profound than simply asking, as it requires seeking and knocking.
I have noticed that things rarely pan out exactly as I have asked. For example - when I asked to run a successful consulting practice, I didn't know it would take three times as long and take ten times the effort to hit my goal.
Maybe you've asked to run a successful business but it cost twice as much than you anticipated. Maybe you asked to land a lead role, but you ended up with a supporting role in a major production. Maybe you asked asked to hit six figure income, but you got it through a job you really disliked. Napoleon Hill in his famous book "Think and Grow Rich" talks about asking for what you want with extreme precision. This is because by Universal laws you will be delivered what you ask for in one way or another, so you might as be precise in your requests. Board requests get broad results.
Write down your requests with painstaking precision. Make your requests known. Then start seeking and knocking.
