Excellence Achieved
A few years back I had the profound pleasure of meeting a gentleman by the name of Bob McCurdy who was the keynote speaker at an annual company meeting for one of my client/partners. The theme of the meeting was "The Pursuit of Excellence". I have taken many nuggets of wisdom from that one hour session and applied them to my career and life in general. I learned that Bob was the type of person who never took his foot off the gas and I mean that in the highest regard, because his energy, enthusiasm and zeal for life simply radiated out of him.
After that meeting Bob graciously and unselfishly sent a Saturday morning email where he intricately talked about the nuances of media, marketing, sales, the economy, professional development and more. Over a two year stretch he never missed one. I came to find out that even in the midst of him battling illness, he continued to share his knowledge... that's just the type of person (mentor) he was.
I didn't have the chance to build a stronger relationship with him in person, but I always made sure to send him thank you notes especially on those emails that really spoke to me. He was a true example of giving without asking for anything in return.
Bob published this blog (https://radioink.com/2017/12/10/the-pursuit-of-excellence/) shortly after he initially spoke to our team. It's jam packed with insights and takeaways.
Bob's life was a continual pursuit of excellence and from what I saw he achieved that excellence everyday.
Fare thee well Bob McCurdy...
