Measurably Better
Seek to be measurably better each day. This is common practice in a business environment (at least it should be). In a personal environment this is much less practiced or even acknowledged, yet it is critical to achieving your desired results. Do you have a sense of what you are measuring in your own life each day? Are you in the processing of developing better habits? Write down what you are looking to improve upon and then measure your progress. Make a chart, have others keep you accountable, set reminders, do whatever it is that you must in order to keep you on track. Fight the urge to give up or to give in. As the great management consultant Peter Drucker once said, "you can't manage what you can't measure". At any given moment on any given day you should know exactly where you stand with your personal and professional goals. Daily, incremental progress will win the race.
