Start First
The most important step in business is starting. Having spent years on the front end of business as an analyst/strategist/planner I can tell you first hand that starting has more impact than planning. I have seen too many businesses waste time, money, resources, etc on planning and never get off the ground. I've seen others start with no real plan and pivot their way to success. Every great song or movie ever written started with the first word. So too, every great company had a moment where they took the first step. Keep in mind that nothing will ever be perfect in life or in business. If you are waiting on the sidelines for that perfect moment, chances are you will waste more time than needed. To be clear, I am an advocate of good solid planning, it's just that a plan is nothing more than a plan and action is the only thing that leads to progress. Mike Tyson once said, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth". Getting punched means you're at least in the ring. Don't be a bystander, be a contender.
Every day carries with it the seed of opportunity and the ability to refine, pivot and shift in an effort to move you closer to your goals. Baby steps are better than no steps. Starting is better than not starting. Make today the day you start.
