The Other Side of the Fence
If you're thinking of a career, business, life change understand that the grass may or may not be greener on the other side of the fence. Your personal perspective has a lot to do with the color of the grass. What is it about the other side of the fence that is so appealing? Is it the possibility of the unknown or is it simply just a change of scenery?
What if you tore down the fence instead and expanded your real estate? Could you find a way to combine what you're doing now with what you see on the other side of the fence? Let's say you're a real estate agent but you want to work in the music business - could you sell homes to rockstars?
What if you created a door in the fence instead making a drastic leap? Could you step in and out of the other yard whenever you choose? Do you really need to abandon your yard? Let's say you're a Math Teacher who wants more time to surf. What if you leveraged your teaching skills and became a surf instructor on the weekends and a part-time math teacher during the week?
For some, you may not only need to jump over the fence but move to a different neighborhood completely. Only you will know. I've seen people make drastic career moves and end up much happier in the process even though it took them a while to ramp back up financially. Sometimes life will force you into another yard. You may need to learn to be nimble, agile, flexible and adaptable to make your new situation work out.
Some of you may need to grow where you're planted and water your lawn versus wondering why the neighbors lawn is so green.
Regardless of where you're at, start with the gratitude that you're standing on a lawn to begin with. There are so many people out there destitute, hopeless and without choices across the globe. Maybe you can try watering someone else's lawn for a change.
It's all out there for you.
