Not So Fast...
As a general rule of thumb, the faster you go, the less control you have. Maybe this is why God designed babies to crawl before they walk and eventually run.
Over time, as we develop our skill, technique, chops we can increase our speed and actually find more control the faster we go. But that only comes after mastery. [insert Charlie Parker or Kelly Slater here]
We see this often in the universe of acquisitions.
A new owner steps in, eager to “step on the gas,” with a team that has never been in the fast lane.
Growth through acquisition is a skill.
AI adoption and tech modernization are skills.
Leadership development and succession planning = skills.
You get the picture.
So what’s the secret to moving fast?
Jump in cold.
Test. Attempt. Invest. Iterate.
Hire experts who already have speed under control.
Study the greats.
Because the next time someone says, “We need to move fast,”
you’ll be ready to sprint.
Poll Results: The results are in from last week’s survey:
60% of voters said they are “small slide, big pie” types
