Sell the Vision
The essential skill for every Entrepreneur is their ability to “Sell the Vision”.
To ensure the success of any endeavor, the vision must be sold 3 times:
The first sale is to the Entrepreneur themselves. Unless they are completely sold on their own vision, no one else will be and the venture will be short lived.
The second sale is to the team - investors, employees, and strategic partners. The entrepreneur needs to passionately convey their vision to inspire others to jump onboard and come along for the ride.
And finally, they need to sell the vision to the public - prospects, customers, media and anyone else who will listen.
Moreover, selling the vision isn't a one-time event. Customers, staff, partners, and the entrepreneur themselves need constant reinforcement of the vision. Without this the vision will fade into obscurity.
I mean, Steve Jobs wanted to put a dent in the Universe for crying out loud - which he did. If that’s not an inspiring vision, I’m not sure what is. In some respects it could be said that an inspiring vision sells itself.
Note: I am not talking about crafting a Vision statement that hangs on the wall. I’m talking about raw, gritty, passionate, in your face, all-out-sold on the Vision, to the extent that it shows on you physically.
Whatever your endeavor is, may your vision burn so bright that it blinds and seduces all who come in contact with you.
