You Are Not Your Business
It’s easy to blur the lines between your personal identity and that of your business. However, it’s important to remember that we are not our businesses.
I believe it’s better to treat your business not as a mirrored image of yourself, but more like your child. It will inevitably go through various stages of growth and eventually become fully self-reliant and capable of succeeding you, making you proud.
Let’s face it, we all have shortcomings. More often than not, these shortcomings bleed into the business, especially when we view the business as a carbon copy of ourselves.
It’s only when we fully separate our personal identities from that of the business that we can begin to make decisions objectively and for the betterment of the entity rather than our own egos.
